EPOMM PLUS 01.07.2009-01.07.2012

CSDCS participates as Bulgarian partner in the project EPOMM-PLUS, launched on 1.07.2009, funded by EACI IEEE 2008. The leading partner is the EPOMM consortium. The project aims to achieve a quantum leap in the use of mobility management in Europe. It establishes EPOMM (the European Platform On Mobility Management) as THE authority and THE networking instrument for the promotion of mobility management in the EU, thus strengthening EU cooperation and dissemination in this field.

EPOMM is an EU network of Ministries or appointed agencies responsible for mobility management. EPOMM has been successful in part, but its dissemination work is restricted by lack of resources. The overall aim is for all EU27 Member States to become EPOMM members.

PARTNERSHIP FOR BETTER QUALITY OF LIFE IN TRIADITSA REGION

FUNDED BY THE SOFIA MUNICIPALITY PROGRAM “EUROPEAN PROJECTS AND DEVELOPMENT OF CIVIL SOCIETY”

The project aims to promote and introduce some European practices for improving the quality of life in Triaditsa region of Sofia Municipality through partnership and common actions between local citizens’ organizations and the municipal administration.

The project promoters are CSDCS and the Triaditsa region’s administration. The project lasts 5 month and the total amount of grant is 25000 BGN. The project activities will raise the public awareness about the quality of life indicators, possible projects and common initiatives for local development through trainings and round table discussions. The main result will be the opening of local consulting office for providing professional assistance and advises to potential beneficiaries, which want to develop and implement European projects.





Establishment of Waste Network for sustainable solid waste management planning and promotion of integrated decision tools in the Balkan Region (BALKWASTE)

Funded by LIFE+ , Contract N LIFE07 ENV/RO/000686 , 2009-2012

This projects aims to the dissemination of the knowledge, deriving from the implementation of the EU waste strategy and policy in Member states, to the whole Balkan Region, using Romania and Bulgaria as case studies for the implementation of integrated waste management planning. Beneficiaries from 4 Balkan Countries (Greece, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Romania) will cooperate in order to develop decision support tools, that will incorporate EU policy on waste and recycling and can be easily implemented by Competent Authorities.

Balkan countries are generally characterised with low waste management infrastructure, lack of monitoring procedures and increasing waste generation due to their developing economies. The main objective of the project is to promote and implement EU strategy and policy on solid waste management and establish cooperation and knowledge exchange among the Balkan Countries.

Objective: To expand NGOs and local administration’s potential to establish efficient partnerships and successfully utilize the European funds in the North-West of Bulgaria

The project is to establish a partnership of the civil society with the state administration and is to assist the realization of efficient policies for sustainable economic growth and employment. One of the main project activities is to provide quality education on major issues related to Bulgaria’s European integration and local utilization of structural funds, aiming at improving Bulgarian society standard. For the first time a training on Diversity management will be performed following the program of LGI-MMCP, OSI-Budapest.

Discussions and consultations of NGOs with the local administration (in the form of “round tables”) have been envisaged to assist the efficient functioning of the local organs since in this way it will be possible to get closer to ordinary people and to meet their needs via providing modern services. In the course of the educational process, representatives of the local administration are to take part to get their qualifications improved.

As a result of the project activities, north-west NGOs and the administration’s potential to work on European projects is to be expanded and local consulting groups are to be set up to partner in future project proposals.




BG 2004/016-711.01.01 Lot2-062:“Enhancing the NGO-s’ Capacity for participation in the EU accession process by training and networking”

The overall objective of this action is to strengthen the role of the civil society in Sofia agglomeration aerials and enhance its participation in the EU accession process by creating capacity through training of trainers and networking of local NGO-s. The specific objectives are:
-To promote the EU values, policies and standards thus preparing the civil society in small rural communities to the integration process;
-To provide rural communities with the necessary information concerning Structural Funds, CAP and the national Strategy for Rural Development.
-To improve the expertise of the local NGOs in the area of elaboration and management of projects and establishing effective partnerships;
-To create a virtual network as a platform for mutual cooperation, training and consulting on EU issues, thus assisting for the establishment of contacts with the local authorities and professional associations;
-To establish bridges between the local operators and funding bodies through elaboration of reliable and feasible projects and establishment of direct contacts.






TRANSBOARDER COOPERATION BULGARIA-ROMANIA IN DANUBE-BLACK SEA ENVIRONMENTAL AREA

Project duration: 8 months (January-August 2005)

Partner organization: ECOSENS, Romania

Project goal: To analyze the results of the common actions performed by Bulgarian and Romanian NGOs in environmental area in the target region and to establish a sustainable strategy for further actions.

Project objectives:

* To analyze the achievements of all performed projects and their impact on the environment in the target region.

* To evaluate and analyze the risks of environmental actions in order of their further prevention.

* To study the needs in the region related to environmental preservation and restoration and to propos real activities for meeting these needs through common trans-border actions.

* To strengthen the capacity of the third sector in both countries in the environmental area.

* To attract the attention of the society, businesses and media to the ecological problems in the region aiming their commitment for further projects.

As a result of the project a Strategy for cross-boarder cooperation has been created, as well as a Projects data base as a first step to the elaboration of Trans-boarder projects’ database.



“The Future Role of NGOs in a Changed Europe”

The project is supported by the Open Society Foundation - Romania

The aim of the project is to strengthen the capacity of the NGOs from the Balkan region to adapt to the changes, which are taking place at European level, especially the enlargement of the European Union. The project foresees three main types of activities:

- Seminar for evaluation the NGO activities in the Balkan region – held in Bucharest 23-26 May 2005 (see the report of the Seminar)

- Study visit to Romanian NGO-focal points – performed in the period 25 July – 3 August (see the photo-gallery of the visit)

- Seminar for preparation of the final report

- Edition of the report and the website of the project (to be performed by the end of 2005)



PHARE BG 0104.03-013 “Capacity for establishing a network of Rehabilitation Consulting Centers for People with Disabilities in Bulgaria via training of trainers” – funded by PHARE 2001

The principal goal of the project is to create a sustainable functional network of rehabilitation-consulting centres for people with disabilities (RCCPD) in Bulgaria. RCCPD shall provide training, business-information and consultations for present and future entrepreneurs-invalids, unemployed and transferred to more appropriate jobs for reasons of health and their regional NGOs, municipal organisations and companies. It is going to be carried out via trained within the framework of the project business consultants who are going to train locally, thus contributing to the establishment of a network of RCCPDs. The target group of the project is disabled people in the country and their unions. The project’s main activities include:

* selection of trainees (20 people);

* preparation and carrying out of the training on entrepreneurship, management of NGO projects and consulting skills;

* support to the establishment of regional RCCPDs aiming at setting up a sustainable network.

“Social Equity for Everyone” – funded by OSI - Bulgaria

Taking out from common community activities of several categories of persons, like those with disabilities and ethnic groups, and put them at the “edge of the society” occurs at the apparition of many social problems or conflicts. Indifferent of the motivation, the adoption of the proper measures in order to offer equal social chances for everyone, is very needed. Different experiences gained by the youth organisations from Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldavia, on actions developed in order to change this situation is the main reason for having an informative experience exchange. This activity was be developed in two stages – preliminary research and a huge seminar, held in Bankya – Bulgaria, where participated were 10 NGO-s from Bulgaria, Romania, and the Republic of Moldavia. The seminar consisted of plenary sessions and of activities based on specific modules. As a result a declaration has been signed for further collaboration and common advocacy for protecting the rights of minorities and other disadvantaged groups.

“The youth in support of community” – funded by OSI - East-East Programme

Purpose proposed: Rising the awareness of the youth from Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldavia concerning their role in solving the community problems.

Proposed objectives:

* Rising the involvement of the youth from Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldavia in problems concerning community development and the democratic processes;

* Initiation of an long term partnership between the youth from Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldavia in support of the democratic development of the communities;

* Providing equal chances for ethnic youth groups and young people with disabilities to participate in the community decisional processes.

The project had 3 main actors: ECOSENS (Romania), as project co-ordinator, Club “Sustainable Development of Civil Society” (Bulgaria) and Raza Soarelui (Moldavia) as project partners. The representatives from youth organisations and NGOs from Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldavia took part in the project development, representatives being experts in social, economical and legislative matters, interested in democratic development process of the society, after the eradication of the totalitarian and anachronistic principles, perpetuated by the former communist regimes. Each project partner will co-ordinate the activities developed in their own countries. The experiences gained on local, national or international levels, in this context, must be shared between the representatives of the civil society and local and central authorities, from Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldavia. This is the main reason for the development of this seminar. The goal of the seminar is to create the opportunity for a proper exchange of experience between the representatives of the youth organisations and other NGOs from Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldavia. In the same time it will be an opportunity to make new contacts between the participants in order to adopt common actions for strengthening the involvement of the youth in solving the community problems. NGOs in Romania, Bulgaria and the Republic of Moldova have different levels of experience in this field.

MATRA-KNIP 2004

Initiative for biodiversity conservation in Yambol District

The project aims to raise the public awareness on natural wealth and biodiversity conservation in Yambol region. It will start with training on environmental protection, addressed to selected participants – representatives of the target group. As a follow up of the training thorough information about the rare species will be collected, proceeded and summarized thus providing a basis for creating a unique brochure. The brochure is supposed to contain detailed description of the biodiversity in the region with emphasize on the rare species and advises how to preserve them. It will be a luxury edition with a lot of pictures and text on two languages – Bulgarian and English. The brochure will be officially presented on a final workshop and will be distributed to regional NGOs, Cultural and Youth Centers, schools, tourist companies, etc. aiming to raise the awareness of the local population and visitors on biodiversity conservation.
